About Grace Bible Church

We believe that true Christianity is about a real relationship with God, not empty rituals.  We reject the traditions of men, and exalt the truth of God.  We are not a talent show or a social club.  We are not a religious organization that offers a lot of frivolous programs and activities.  We are a church family that sincerely loves the Lord, His word, and one another.  We love sinners enough to tell them the truth about their lost condition and need of a Saviour.

Here at Grace Bible Church, we believe that Jesus Christ is the one and only Saviour (1 Tim. 1:15; 2:5-6), and that the word of God is the key to spiritual growth (2 Tim. 3:16-17).  That is why we have dedicated ourselves to preaching the gospel of Christ and "rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15).  God's will is plainly stated in 1 Tim. 2:4, "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."

Jim Phillips

Pastor Jim Phillips was saved on Resurrection Sunday at an independent fundamental baptist church in Central Michigan after returning home from his first three-year enlistment in the U.S. Army.  After his second enlistment, he attended the Midwestern Baptist College in Pontiac, MI. 

During his first two summers in bible college, he did mission work in Melbourne, Australia.  After graduating from the bible college, he started the Heritage Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, MI in 1993 on an indian reservation.  Since then, he has started other churches in Michigan, Ohio and Texas.

For over 25 years, he has been leading teaching tours to Israel, and Jim has recently also been leading small tours to Greece.  He started the Grace Bible Institute (free and online) which has had thousands of students take classes over the recent years with hundreds of graduates.  GBI has free advanced level degrees for those wishing to continue their education from a conservative, fundamental, and dispensational position.

He is the founder and currently pastors the Grace Bible Church of Southwest Houston.
